The APEC Cultural Focal Point Network (CFPN) seeks to promote cultural exchange between APEC economies, helping to advance APEC's vision of an Asia-Pacific Community. Through improving understanding and effectively lessening the distances between markets and people in the APEC region, the Network aims to create a more business-friendly environment.

APEC Film Festival
The APEC 2006 Film Festival was successfully held in Viet Nam's three largest cities, Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, from 6 to 23 October and featured films from 15 member economies.
Links with Tourism Promotion Recognized
As APEC host in 2006, Viet Nam has been committed to promoting cultural exchange toward building a closer APEC community. This is in keeping with the 2006 theme "Towards a Dynamic Community for Sustainable Development and Prosperity," and the sub-theme of Promoting Community Linkages. Viet Nam has also emphasized the link between Promoting Tourism Cooperation and Cultural Exchange. This linkage has also been recognized in a recent Review of APEC fora conducted by the Steering Committee on ECOTECH (SCE), which recommended that from 2007, cultural issues within APEC should be incorporated into the mandates of the Tourism Working Group and also the Human Resources Development Working Group. The modalities for this will be discussed by these Groups at their meetings in 2007.
